"Lack of boundaries invites lack of respect!

I’d been an employee for almost 20 years and the switch to being a business owner had many challenges. The biggest challenge was me!

When I started my business, I thought I needed to work whichever 16 hours of whichever 7 days I wanted! Was I working effectively and making progress? Not really. I was burnt out, resentful, and client’s expectations were escalating! Where were the boundaries!?

Boundaries are imperative! Boundaries are part of our self-care and protect us from creating and encouraging irrational narcissistic clients and bosses. Most importantly, boundaries protect us from ourselves!

Self-care is vital. As leaders, employees, parents, and business owners it’s easy for us to think ‘I don’t have time for self-care’. But it doesn’t have to be a Pinterest image bubble bath with candles and a book (that’s actually my worst nightmare!). It’s just little things – food that makes you feel good, some exercise or fresh air, doing things that bring you joy. Even if it’s 5 mins.
Me, I paint my fingernails. If my nails aren’t painted, I know I’m not taking the best care of myself, and I go and pull out the box of nail polish!

Adopting boundaries and self-care into our lives not only makes us happier it also makes us more confident and more productive."
